Ellie is fourteen and can’t wait to go home with her canine partner. The first day I met Ellie and her mother, Katie, I realized they were two determined women reaching for greater independence and opportunity for Ellie.
The trainers immediately began teaching Ellie how to work with a dog as a partner — so that one day they will move together through a variety of environments with great ease and excellence, no matter the distractions.
Once partnered, her canine will facilitate greater balance and mobility; and ultimately share the responsibility of helping Ellie navigate the world. It costs $50,000 to train a puppy from birth to placement.
