Petco Foundation Invests in ADW’s Life-Changing Work Supporting Service Dogs

Investment of $5,000 will extend efforts to help pets and people in Santa Fe, NM live their best lives

Assistance Dogs of the West of Santa Fe announced it has been awarded $5,000 grant investment from the Petco Foundation to support its mission to build successful working partnerships between humans and dogs that empower people and open doors to new opportunities.

The Petco Foundation investment will help to change lives by allowing ADW to train, house, care for, and provide love to these very special working dogs in the most efficient method, and ultimately promotes greater independence and self-reliance among the people we serve.

“We are deeply grateful to have a grant that helps us bring these canine bundles of happiness to our clients,” said Linda Milanesi, ADW’s CEO/President.

Investments are made possible through the Petco Foundation’s annual Helping Heroes campaign, which takes place each October in Petco locations nationwide to support the life-changing work of service, therapy and working animals.

Assistance Dogs of the West is a nonprofit organization that has placed more than 350 service dogs across the nation with clients of diverse needs, including autism support, mobility support, diabetic alert, seizure response, and PTSD, anxiety and depression support for veterans and civilians; and Courthouse Facility Dogs and Crisis Response Canines who work with vulnerable victims of crime.

About the Petco Foundation

At the Petco Foundation, we believe that every animal deserves to live its best life.  Since 1999, we’ve invested more than $260 million in lifesaving animal welfare work to make that happen. With our more than 4,000 animal welfare partners, we inspire and empower communities to make a difference by investing in adoption and medical care programs, spay and neuter services, pet cancer research, service and therapy animals, and numerous other lifesaving initiatives. Through our Think Adoption First program, we partner with Petco stores and animal welfare organizations across the country to increase pet adoptions. So far, we’ve helped more than 6.5 million pets find their new loving families, and we’re just getting started. Visit petcofoundation.org to learn more about how you can get involved.
